Dialogen, Oslo, Norway, 2022

An experimental, interdisciplinary platform for art projects connecting the art scene with the local community.

Dialogen (the dialogue) is an experimental art platform at Sletteløkka in Oslo, serving as an exhibition space, a RISO workshop, and a meeting point for artists and neighborhood residents. Based in the local community center, the project explores alternative ways of communication through art, emphasizing responsibility and the importance of expression in public spaces. The Dialogue responds to young Sletteløkka residents’ desire for an art project in their neighborhood. The project acts as an umbrella for diverse art forms and expressions, where sustained presence fosters mutual knowledge-sharing. It is a space for exploring alternative forms of communication in an increasingly digital world. Themes such as self-publishing, dialogue-driven action, freedom of expression, awareness of expression, and democracy are central to the projects. One main goal is to create a space for expression where artistic projects encourage discussions on one’s place in the world. All activities are free and open to everyone, with parts of the program specifically geared towards children and youth. The project includes workshops, gatherings, and a presence in the local area, all interconnected with the exhibition program.
