Structures of Mutual Support, Venice Biennale, Italy, 2021

A publication accompanying the exhibition Structures of Mutual Support, as the Philipåpine Pavilion at the Venice Biennale

The publication consists of five booklets—categorized as Concept, Theory, Framework, Process, and Beyond—each telling a story of Mutual Support from a different perspective. Concept is an account of the curatorial concept behind the exhibition. Theory explores what traditions of mutual support have been and are today. This booklet also compiles research into 21 various traditions of mutual support around the world, written in dialogue with contacts within each culture and practice. Framework explores how these traditions can inform collaborative practice, which is put into action and documented in the Process booklet. Beyond was written during the COVID pandemic, exploring the importance and role of mutual support in the future.
